Director Pi: I’m testing them now! Subscribers: What about influencer items?
Director Pi: Already tested them! Items on social media, influencer items, Slightly Acidic products, night care items, review feedback, and Director Pi’s beauty items! All in this video! Hi, I’m Director Pi, a YouTuber, and cosmetic ingredient analyst. Today I’m going to talk about some items that I saw on Instagram or Facebook that I bought myself and tested. I’ll introduce some products that I didn’t have the chance to do before and give some feedback on some of the products that my subscribers recommended through the comment section. So today’s video is about 2019 Comment Feedback Items Trending influencer items When I posted my plan on foundation reviews, there were many comments on item recommendation. Milktouch Marshmellow Foundation. This item was made by a famous influencer on social media. It’s an item for occasional use with two PEGs and one fragrance. Ta-da! One of many people’s favorite items. This comes in a bottle that is similar to the Double wear from Estee Lauder and even with similar consistency and adherence. However, this Milktouch foundation brings that extra glow and has a long-lasting dewy look. Many subscribers wanted to know if there is a dewy foundation that can be used in winter, which also has great coverage and consistency. Well, this is the one! I’ve tested three long-lasting cushions on paper to see how much moisture and oil each product has. Estee Lauder Double-wear Foundation, The Face Shop Ink Lasting Foundation, and Innisfree 1.5 Foundation. The product from Estee Lauder was first to get dry, followed by Innisfree 1.5 foundation. The MilkTouch Foundation and The Face Shop Ink Lasting Foundation were similar, so I did some swatches. Estee Lauder Double-wear Foundation is already dry, so it doesn’t smudge on my fingers. The Face Shop Ink Lasting Foundation and Innisfree 1.5 Foundation. Innisfree 1.5 Foundation is also dry and this is the MilkTouch Foundation The moisture is still there and it’s glowing! It’s the only foundation that maintained its dewiness. When you use a cleansing water to wash Estee Lauder Double-wear Foundation, you need to rub extra hard. On the other hand, the MilkTouch Foundation wiped clean very easily. If I would summarize the MilkTouch Foundation into one word, I’d say “primer”. It’s a primer made out of silicone oil and oxidized steel. The silicone oil will make a moisture barrier on the outer part of the skin to maintain the dewiness and consistency. Cushions Artistry Exact Fit Cushion Foundation Perfect Fit Gel Touch This is a new cushion that was released on August 2019. It isn’t that bad! Two PEGs and one fragrance makes it an item for occasional use. The cushion has a double net, which is the same as the one from Innisfree. The name suggests that it is a gel-like cushion. The actual texture is a cooling gel with a matte finish. The texture is really similar to that from Innisfree’s as well. You can feel that it cools your skin right away, but it soon becomes soft, like any other semi-matte cushion. To summarize the review chart, Both items scored 3 points for ingredients, and Innisfree was higher in coverage with 3 points. The cushion from Artistry had no consistency at all. 1 point! Moisture-wise, both products scored 4 points! They both got cakey after time. Pigmentation, both 3 points. I would say that the Innisfree cushion is more affordable, long-lasting, and better in coverage! Too Cool for School Studio De Teint Eclat Satin Cushion SPF45 There were some comments pointing out that it’s a bummer that I didn’t review the cushion from Too Cool for School. You’re right. I was editing the video when the cushion came out. The shade is no.2 ivory, but it didn’t brighten my skin or make it shine. This cushion also includes 3 PEGs and one fragrance, so I added it as an item for occasional use. I was disappointed that this cushion didn’t show the instant glow that the SoNatural Fix Cushion that I recommended on my previous cushion Top of Top video. Next up, I brought the Hanskin Blemish Cover Conceal Cushion, which was in the thumbnail picture of the cushion Top of Top video but wasn’t in the video. The ingredients are not that good. It includes not only PEG but also ingredients that can possibly trigger allergic reactions that can be dangerous. I’m not saying that ingredients that can possibly trigger allergic reactions can be harmful on all skin types, But it can happen to people that have allergies on specific ingredients, just like pollen allergies. This product also includes artificial fragrance, so people with extremely sensitive skin should use products without fragrance. This cushion from Hanskin doesn’t have good ingredients, improves texture, coverage, or consistency. I don’t use it very often. Powders I did a video on long-lasting, good powders this summer, but there were many comments saying that it’s a bummer I didn’t include some of the most popular powder items in the video. I posted it on my blog, but since I couldn’t get it on my video I thought this was a chance to talk about that. Innisfree Pore Blur Powder is a really well-made powder! The ingredients are more simple compared to the no-sebum powder, and the first ingredient is silica, which makes the powder. And it’s made out of antioxidants and solvents like Ethylhexylglycerin, Glyceryl Caprylate, Tocopherol. No preservatives or fragrance included! Powder type products are safe for a long time without preservatives. This is a powder pact that even people with extremely sensitive skin can occasionally use. The pact from Too Cool for School includes a lot of microplastic, so I’d say It’s an item for occasional use. The powder from Makeup Forever also includes potentially harmful ingredients such as Phenoxyethanol, benzyl alcohol, but it’s a well-made powder. It includes a lot of Synthetic Fluorphlogopite, which adds the extra shimmering look, so It’s an expensive item for occasional use. I wouldn’t recommend it to people with sensitive skin. Products that show instant effects Galvanic Spa System II age LOC Edition Galvanic Spa II Facial Gel with ageLOC. 44,000KRW for 8 of these. The pre-treat gel includes moisturizing ingredients such as citric acid, butylene glycol, glycerin. The name suggests that it’s a treatment gel. It includes moisture-barrier forming ingredients such as butylene glycol, glycerin, and hydroxypropyl methylcellulose. The ingredients are pretty much like any other moisturizing gel. NuSkin stated that the effects double when you buy the device and the gel, so I couldn’t help but buy it. It’s a total of 400,000KRW! There are 4 conductors on each body or face area, but it was much too complicated to use unless I really made up my mind to put an effort. I’ve looked at some YouTube videos of people who sell these devices and tried to follow the massage routine, but it didn’t work as good as I thought. 1. No instant effects
2. Much too complicated
3. You won’t need it unless you really put an effort to use it. 9tails Wrinkle Power Filling. I was looking at the home-shopping channel, and the wrinkle instantly improved when the model used this product! I got curious and bought it right away. Filling in wrinkles! Sodium Metasilicate, which is a silica compound(ingredient number three) does the work. It controls sebum and meets with other emulsifying or moisturizing agents to fill in uneven skin textures much like silicone. This product used adenosine and peptide that fills in wrinkles. However, when I tried it on my face, it didn’t fill in any of my wrinkles! 1. Ingredients are ok
2. Not as effective as the ad suggests
3. No magical effects Slightly Acidic products There was also some comments that stated: “The ingredients are important, but being slightly acidic or not is also a crucial issue! First I have something to say about slightly acidic products. If your skin gets sensitive, it will alkalize or neutralize, and even go to pH8. It’s good to use products with low pH levels in order to balance it out, but if you use a product that includes any acidity regulators, it can irritate the skin. That’s why I’m recommending products that are around pH5.5~6.5. BePlain Chamomile Slightly Acidic Toner is really good. It doesn’t include any fragrance and it’s one of the products that I haven’t introduced before. The ingredients are great. It includes moisturizing and soothing ingredients such as Chamomilla Recutita (Matricaria) Flower Extract(80.65%), propanediol, glycerin, Portulaca Oleracea Extract, trehalose. Centella Asiatica extract and Ficus Carica (Fig) Fruit Extract To add, there are also ingredients that can strengthen skin barriers such as Betaine, Allantoin, and Ceramide NP. It doesn’t even include citrus oil or fragrance that can irritate the skin. Even children and pregnant women can use this product. If you use a cotton pad to wipe your face, it can cleanse and moisturize the skin. (PD) Is a three-layer essence enough? It’s not for moisturizing, but it boosts hydration when you use lotion or moisturizers. BePlain Greenful pH-balanced Cleansing Foam. It’s a slightly acidic cleansing foam that’s almost like an ointment. Melt the small particles on your palm and it will create a good amount of bubbles to exfoliate, remove sebum, and cleanse pores. It used hypoallergenic cleansing ingredients such as Sodium Cocoyl Glycinate and Sodium Lauroyl Glutamate. slightly acidic & doesn’t include aroma oil! Not bad! Exfoliating Pads with good ingredietns There were many comments all year long requesting a video about exfoliating pads. However, I didn’t do it because I don’t recommend exfoliating pads. I thought it would be ok to use AHA,BHA toners on a good cotton pad, but I recently found a decent exfoliating pad. The lab Oligo Hyaluronic Acid 7 Multi-Formula Pad. I didn’t want to recommend another product from The Lab since I’ve done so many, but I had to recommend this product when I tested it myself. The pad is amazing! It’s a soft pad that is really hydrating!! It’s like a soft gauze made out of cotton. Pads need to include a lot of 1,2-Hexanediol to raise viscosity. High viscosity works as a cushion and a preservative. Sodium hyaluronate(2500ppm), which is a high molecule hyaluronic acid, is included to act as a cushion-like 1,2-Hexanediol Ruscus Aculeatus Root Extract is also in the mix. It was a good ingredient that soothes redness in my 2018 Derma cosmetic video. slightly acidic & doesn’t include aroma oil Recommended for pregnant women! The next item is also a recommended item with two thumbs up I’m really focusing on testing out foundations recently. I use cleansing tissues to quickly wipe out foundations. When I applied Estee Lauder Double-wear Foundation, I used the pad from The Lab. It works better than I thought it would! If you removed your makeup with cleansing oil and don’t have a toner to double-cleanse your face, I would recommend this pad. Night care, just a sales tactic? As to the question: “Are all night care products dirty sales gimmicks?” I can’t say that they’re all gimmicks. Anti-aging products include a lot of ingredients that can get your makeup cakey, so it’s not fit for the daytime. That’s why they tell you to use it at night. Secondly, some ingredients like vitamin C are phototoxic, so it can be harmful if you use it in the morning. It’s best to use it at night! (PD) So It’s not just the name, the products should be used at night because of the texture and the ingredients? Yes. It’s better to differentiate your morning care and night care products. However, there are products that are divided into morning and night care regardless of texture or ingredients, just to sell more of it. These are all sales gimmicks. That’s why I mentioned that morning care and night care should be divided by ingredients. The products I got for today are dewy, so they’re good for night care. The Beautiful Factr Core Ampoule This is a brightening, wrinkle-improving night care essence. You have to melt the particles before you use it. It’s very hydrating! It’s the most hydrating product among all the brightening essences that I’ve reviewed. Dry skin normally has a lot of wrinkles. People who have dry skin should try the collaboration of brightening essence and moisturizing cream. Fermented extracts are included in anti-aging products like resilience improving items. It gently cleanses the outer side of the skin to make it look translucent. However, it’s all natural ingredients, so people who are sensitive to natural ingredients should be aware. Products for hydration that are not moisturizers I mentioned in my previous moisturizer video that if you have skin problems when you use a moisturizing cream, you don’t necessarily need to use it. Any product with moisturizing effects would do the job, but it’s hard to pick a good product. Blithe Pressed Serum Tundra Chaga is the one! The bottle is like a cream but it’s actually solidified essence. The texture is like solidified water. The color is from the natural ingredient, not artificial pigments. It seems like a sticky balm, but the texture is different. It’s sticky at first but once you spread it out on your face, it finishes with a soft touch. The main ingredient is Chaga mushroom extract(56.4%) Chaga mushroom is effective in restoring skin resilience and it also has anti-aging functions. Adenosine is also included as a winkle improving ingredient. Hydrogenated Vegetable Oil and Caprylic/Capric Tryglyceride are included as occlusive, so it’s a product that doesn’t have many membrane-forming agents, which can be dry for people with dry skin. People with oily skin or dehydrated oily skin would feel like their moisture levels have been restored. Other Mositurizing Cream Hanyul Pure Artemisia Watery Calming Cream 50ml / 32,000KRW I brought this because many people asked about it in my moisturizing cream video. It’s a soft gel-cream like creamy texture. This product uses Methyl Trimethicone as an occlusive. It uses a lot of silicone oil rather than natural oil to get the moisturize game on. The ingredients are not the best because it includes fragrance. A24 Premium Protection Sunscreen People asked me if the sunscreen from A24 is still recommendable after the ingredient renewal. I selected this sunscreen as the TOP of TOP combination sunscreen, but after the renewal, it changed to physical sunscreen. It includes Ethylhexyl Methoxycinnamate, which is a chemical sunscreen that can kill coral reefs. It is banned in Hawaii and I hope Korea banns it too. Zinc oxide, titanium dioxide, Ethylhexyl Methoxycinnamate was included before the renewal, but after, only zinc oxide and titanium dioxide are included in the mix. I love how they followed the feedback from consumers. Some people might think that this sunscreen will leave a lot of white cast because it’s a non-nano physical sunscreen, It may seem like that in the beginning, but it adheres into the skin so it feels like a dewy tone-up cream. Another difference is that it includes Dicaprylyl Carbonate and Cyclomethicone. These are silicone oils, but they aren’t as harmful as other types of silicone oils. Big applause for the texture and ingredients. Some reviews state that the texture of the old version is better, but I think this is because the sunscreen holds the foundation. When you apply foundation on top of chemical sunscreen, it becomes a long-lasting dewy combination. Try the A24 sunscreen in a different way. I have dry skin that is fairly even. My makeup lasts longer when I use a flat Hwahong Brush to apply a thin layer of A24 sunscreen. Lip products that I use There were some comments asking me about what I use on my lips in my videos. I’ve been using this for 7~8 years now Giorgio Armani Lip Maestro Isn’t it pretty? This shade is no.502. I had this on in my cushion Top of Top video. This product includes a lot of silicone oil and also includes artificial pigments, and this is ok for a lip product. A lot of famous lip products include PEG, triethanolamine, and paraben, but this product doesn’t include any of these ingredients! I brought this [no.415 Maple Red] shade from the MLBB collection to fix my makeup. The shade is just bomb. It’s a brick color that I have on right now! No.502 has similar ingredients with no.415. Since these products are more on the high-end side, I tried to look for a dupe. A’pieu Juicy-Pang Tint [CR02] I’ve already recommended the juicy pang tint before. However, a lot of Cyclotetrasiloxane(D4) has been added when it renewed to a mousse, so it’s hard to recommend it now. If I find another dupe with good pigmentation and consistency, I’ll tell you. YSL The slim sheer Matte The shade is pretty much like the definition of MLBB. [no.102, rose natural.] It doesn’t include Cyclotetrasiloxane(D4) and Cyclopentasiloxane(D5), only dimethicone polymer, fragrance, pigments, and some ingredients that can cause allergic reactions, so I would recommend it as an item for occasional use. Online ad products from social media Demar3 Cita Du 1.6 Burning 1&2 The ad said that there are good sebum and bad sebum on oily skin and that this product makes good sebum. I didn’t buy it because the product divides the product into 2 small products. Normally when a product is divided into two, it’s because the products are better off separate than together. However, the ingredients suggest that the 2 products don’t need to be divided. This product doesn’t include potentially harmful ingredients. Demar3 includes a lot of peptide as boosting agents, which isn’t bad! If you want some resilience boost, use a resilience essence or cream, and if you want to improve acne conditions, use one of the two products. Ending There are a lot more items that I haven’t introduced to you yet, but let me finish my video here before it gets too long. Final announcement! You all know that I’m preparing the 2019 year-end foundation award. I’m testing foundations all over my cheeks, so please look forward to it! And don’t miss the 2019 “Good Box” event!
I’ll see you next week!
