way through to the end to make sure that you don’t miss out on any important information. Start With a Good Cleanser
Any dermatologist will tell you that what you take off of your face is just as important
for skin care as what you put on it. A good cleanser is an important part of your
skin care routine because it helps to wash off the makeup and other skin products you’ve
been wearing throughout the day along with the oils, pollutants, toxins and bacteria
which might have accumulated on your skin over the course of your daily business. By washing your skin off with a gentle cleanser,
it also helps by protecting your skin and making it resistant to dehydration and other
possible causes of skin damage. Additionally, not only does a cleanser help
clean and protect your skin, but it also makes your skin more prepared to receive other skincare
products and absorb them more effectively. Just make sure to pay close attention to the
ingredients that make up your cleanser, as some of these cleansers can be potentially
harsh on your skin depending on what they’re made of. 2. Use an Exfoliant
Now that we’ve got your skin all nice and clean by way of a gentle cleanser, the next
step is to make use of either a physical or a chemical exfoliant. But why do we need to exfoliate in the first
place? For starters, as you get older your skin starts
to slow down when it comes to replenishing itself, meaning dead skin isn’t replaced
as quickly as it used to be. Exfoliating helps to gently scrape away that
superfluous dead skin that’s currently contributing to your aging looks, and washing away those
dead skin cells and reveal your fresh face underneath. Exfoliants can be broken up into two categories:
physical exfoliants and chemical exfoliants. As a general rule of thumb, it’s recommended
that you avoid harsher exfoliants such as scrubs and beaded cleansers, and they can
potentially cause your skin to sag. Instead, a simple soft sponge or washcloth
is all you need to get rid of those pesky dead skin cells. 3. Use Plenty of Moisturizer
Keeping your skin good and moist is one of the most important ways to protect your skin
from the aging process. As you get older, your skin starts to lose
its supply of sebum. While there is a silver lining to losing out
on sebum– less chance of acne, for starters– the loss of sebum also means that your skin
is more likely to dry out more easily as well as more quickly. If you want to avoid dry skin and wrinkles,
make sure to apply plenty of moisturizer in order to keep your epidermis nice and lubricated. So what kinds of moisturizers should you be
on the lookout for? Well, the best moisturizers are the ones that
contain what’s known as water-binding humectants such as glycerine and hyaluronic acid, as
well as other ingredients such as petrolatum and mineral oil. Moisturizer can potentially trap bacteria
in your skin, so make sure to clean and exfoliate before you start applying! 4. Apply Some Anti Aging Serums
While the run of the mill moisturizers are all well and good in terms of your skin care
routine, there also exist more specialized serums out there which use more active ingredients
than your usual average moisturizer. Among anti aging serums and other products,
some key ingredients to be on the lookout for include derivatives of vitamin A and vitamin
C such as retinol, tretinoin, tazarotene, and L-ascorbic acid. These ingredients are able to help your skin
in a variety of different ways: not only do they help increase the collagen content of
your skin, but they also serve and antioxidants; and if you know Bestie, you know we always
love us some antioxidants. These ingredients help protect your body’s
cells from biological and environmental oxidative stress, which can play a pivotal role in the
aging process. Just make sure that you pat these serums onto
your skin as opposed to rubbing them in. 5. Always Wear Sunscreen
As nice as it looks and feels to even out your tan, you should take some precautions
to make sure you don’t accidentally overdo it by soaking up too much of the sun’s rays. Sunlight in too high a concentration can potentially
break down the collagen in your skin, causing it to lose its elasticity, and can also cause
uneven patches of pigmentation to break out on your skin. That means wearing sunscreen to protect yourself
from the physical signs of aging that can be brought about by too much sunlight. Make sure your sunscreen of choice is on the
broad spectrum of SPF 30 or higher to make sure your skin is safely covered. And don’t just save your sunscreen for beach
days and hiking trips either: make sure you’re wearing it whenever it’s sunny out. Hopefully, this video was able to with some
